The player in the Five Nights at Freddy's takes on the role of a nighttime security guard at the pizzeria and arcade owned by Freddy Fazbear. The film rights were acquired by Warner Bros.

In 2014, the first game in the Five Nights at Freddy's series was released, officially starting the franchise. Since then, a grand total of 13 FNAF games have been made available. Nine are more traditional tales, while the other four are spinoffs. Players have had the chance to learn a great deal about the real world beyond the animatronics and security cameras throughout the course of these 13 games.
